New Books for Summer and Beyond...

New Books for 2009 (June 2009) As we all eagerly await Regards from the Dragon: Seattle by Senior Bruce Lee student Taky Kimura, we're also itching to get our hands on Fiaz Rafiq's Bruce Lee: Conversations and the latest in a series of high-quality Black Belt produced publications Wisdom for the Way, both due this October. Not to forget Volume II of Tim Tackett and Bob Bremer's Chinatown Jeet Kune Do: Essential Elements... Things are looking rosy in the Bruce Lee book garden as the decade draws to a close.

David Carradine & Shih Kien Pass Away

RIP David Carradine and Shih Kien (June 2009) BLR is sad to report the passing of two iconic men who achieved much in their respective lives and careers but also had a small part to play in Bruce Lee's universe. David Carradine is perhaps best known for his role in the Kung-Fu TV series, which he later reprised alongside Brandon Lee, and Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films while Shih Kien was a cornerstone of Asian cinema for many decades and is best loved by Bruce Lee fans for his role as the villainous Han in Enter the Dragon. They will both be sorely missed.

New Magazines

New magazines (May 2009) The May issue of Martial Arts Illustrated saw the publication of our Paul Bax interview while the Jun Fan Journal delivered all the latest news, exclusive coverage of How Bruce Lee Changed the World and also gave Bruce Lee Review: The Book a glowing mention, with the promise of a full review to come. The June edition featured a Bruce Lee cover ('Keeping the Legacy Alive') and kicked off the first of a two-part piece covering the wealth of Bruce Lee goodies that have been available recently while Black Belt's July issue ran with our Taky Kimura interview, promoting his soon to be released book.
